Charm Acres Residence
Drawing inspiration from the Streamline Moderne movement of the 1930s, this residence pays homage to a regional style which has become emblematic of old Hollywood cinema. The design of the house is organized around several brick-clad piers, creating a strong base to ground the program. The second-floor private bedrooms are contained within a gridded plaster volume, which turns its back to the street and opens up towards the rear yard. This plaster volume floats between the brick piers creating space below for more public program. This pavilion-style design extends the first floor living area seamlessly with the rear yard.
